Brewed to the SCA Golden Cup standard
Golden Cup is the SCA's specification for extraction: how much of the ground coffee ends up dissolved in the cup, and the strength that results. Hitting it by hand takes a practised pour and a steady arm. The Luxe Brewer holds the brew water in range and paces the flow so a full carafe lands inside the specification without anyone standing over it.
A thermal carafe, so no hot plate
The double-walled carafe holds coffee above 65 °C for up to four hours. There is no warming plate underneath, and that matters more than it sounds: a hot plate keeps cooking the coffee after brewing has finished, and within half an hour it reads flat and bitter. Here, the cup you pour at eleven tastes like the one you poured at nine.
Bloom, temperature and flow, under your control
The Brew setting opens up the three variables that decide how a filter coffee tastes. Bloom volume and bloom time govern how thoroughly the grounds degas before extraction proper begins. Brew temperature lets you work with the roast: lighter roasts are denser and give up their solubles more slowly, so they generally want more heat. Flow rate sets how quickly water moves through the bed. Once you have settled on a profile, the machine remembers it.
Flat-bottom and conical baskets, both included
Both baskets are in the box. A flat-bottom basket gives an even bed depth and a more forgiving extraction, which is usually the right choice for larger batches. A conical basket concentrates the bed and tends to read as sweeter and more focused. Having both means you can taste the difference rather than take our word for it.
Cold brew in about thirty minutes
The Cold Brew setting extracts at a higher concentration to build a base in around half an hour instead of overnight. Dilute it to taste over ice.
A removable twelve-cup tank
The 1.8 litre tank lifts out for filling and cleaning, with a ClaroSwiss filter fitted to keep the brew water consistent. The programmable start will have a carafe waiting up to 24 hours ahead.
